Resident Council Development

Independence – All adults, by definition, have an inherent need and capacity to direct their own lives and contribute to society. For autistic individuals, ongoing challenges in effective communications and navigating the real estate market can be debilitating and confusing and can lead to social isolation and marginalization.

The overall intent of the Resident Council is that, by cultivating their own internal resources, the capacity for social and tenant-landlord connections will be strengthened for these individuals. Having a say in assessing and addressing their own needs within their housing facility, while having the support of family and allies, offers a hands-on opportunity for tenants to find fulfillment as a contributing adult in their community.
