Nature as a Neighbour: Building Resilient Real Estate and Connected Communities
Nature as a Neighbour empowers Calgarians to protect, conserve and enhance the value and livability of their neighbourhoods through hands-on, collaborative, nature based solutions (NBS) strategies. Led by the Calgary Climate Hub, this initiative supports residents in designing and implementing proven NBS projects such as pocket forests, rain gardens, and pollinator corridors, that improve climate resilience, biodiversity, and livability. Through the delivery of NBS workshops in climate vulnerable communities, the development of a citywide Climate Resilience Community Support Network (CRCSN), and implementation of three funded NBS projects with clear and measurable outcomes, this program supports both communities and the real estate industry by helping safeguard property value and livability in a changing climate. The CRCSN will remain active beyond the project period, allowing for the continued expansion and scaling up of impacts across Calgary, and beyond.
